International Terminal Fee Inclusive in Airfares
Announcements and Notices
As there are often long lines of people at terminal fee counters in NAIA, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has sought to improve efficiency and provide convenience for passengers. In this light, the international terminal fee 550 php will no longer be collected at NAIA and will be inclusive upon purchasing airline tickets starting February 1, 2015. This was initially implemented last October 1, 2014, but was halted due to a TRO considering the lack of publications and OFW clamor for their exemption. MIAA honors OFWs’ Overseas Exemption Certificate (OEC) and requests them to present OECs to get refunds. The postponed implementation favors airline companies that will have time to adjust their systems and ticket pricing, and also improves people’s awareness regarding the new scheme.
Traveling will become easier with this new scheme in place. People will worry less about getting to the airport earlier if they have one less task at hand. They will get to skip the line for terminal fees and only concern themselves about baggage check-in, Philippine travel tax and boarding time. Be sure to spread this good news as MIAA is continuously improving NAIA’s service.
